Boys Soccer Sets School Record for Largest Tournament Win
Louisville 10, Canton McKinley 0
The #10 Seed Louisville Leopards blew out the visiting #12 Seed Canton McKinley Bulldogs 10-0 in the DI Austintown Sectional Semifinals Wednesday Evening at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the victory, Louisville improves to 6-9-2 on the season and advances to play at top seeded Green Saturday at 7:00 PM.
Derek Zeller became just the second Leopards Boys Soccer player to score four goals in a tournament game. Only Nick Meadows scored more with a team record 5 goals in a 10-1 Louisville win over Ravenna in the DII Kent Sectional Finals on October 23, 2010.
Wednesday’s victory tied that win over Ravenna for the most goals scored by the Leopards in a Tournament game. It also eclipsed it for the most lopsided Tournament win in team history.
Bailey Adams and Bradley Terra also added two goals each. Trevor Burk also opened the scoring with a goal and finished with 2 assists. Hunter Foley also found the net for the first time in hist Varsity career.
With the victory, Louisville has now won three straight against Canton McKinley. The Leopards now lead the all-time series 4-2-1, which includes a 3-1 record at home. The 10-0 win matches their largest victory over McKinley as they also defeated them 10-0 at home on October 7, 2010.
The win is also Louisville’s first in Division I Tournament play since moving into the largest Division in 2013. The Leopards are now 10-15 all-time in postseason games.
UP NEXT: The Leopards will next travel to Green to take on the top seeded Bulldogs in the DI Austintown Sectional Finals on Saturday, October 24 at 7:00 PM.
