Salem Quakers at Louisville Leopards Girls Basketball 2014 Recap
Louisville 47, Salem 42, OT
Rachel Zeller had game-high’s of 13 Points and 16 Rebounds to help lead Louisville to a thrilling 47-42 overtime victory over visiting Salem on January 18.
The Lady Leopards took a 21-16 lead into the half, but the Quakers rallied to tie the game at 29-29 at the end of the third. The two teams played dead even in the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime tied at 39.
In the extra period Louisville outscored Salem 8-3 to claim the victory. Zeller provided the only Leopard field goal and Abby Beaver converted on all 4 of her free throw attempts in overtime. Beaver along with Sarah Lairson each broke double figures with 11. Hollyann Mullett also scored 9 and tallied 4 steals on defense.
The Quakers were led by Haley Carner and Megan Lehwald who each scored 10. Chloe Cheresne also grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds to go alone with her 8 points.
With the victory, Louisville has now defeated Salem in 8 consecutive meetings. The Lady Leopards lead the all-time series 9-5 which includes a 5-2 record at LHS.
