Louisville Leopards Girls Track Stark County Championships Meet 2019

Boys: Louisville (6th Out of 22)

My Fit Life Personal Trainer AdThe Leopard Boys Track and Field Team finished 6th out of 22 teams at the Stark County Championships on Saturday. Clayton Elder continued his dominating season in the 300 hurdles by winning the teams only championship with a time of 39.72.

3200 Meter Relay: Logan Ison, Josh Schloneger, Bobby Ganser, Miklos Hendricks 8:35 5th

200 Meter Dash: Clayton Elder 23.17 for 5th and Nathan Guiley 23.81 for 8th

1600 Meter run: Logan Ison 4:39 for 6th

400 Meter Relay: Ethan Thomas, Clayton Elder, Kael Mickley, Nathan Guiley 45.76 for 8th

400 Meter Dash: Kael Mickley 53.26 for 6th

800 Meter Run: Miklos Hendricks 2:03 for 5th

1600 Meter Relay: Kael Mickley, Clayton Elder, Miklos Hendricks, Austin Smith 3:39 for 6th

High jump: Austin Smith 5’10 for 3rd

Girls: Louisville – 70 (3rd Out of 22)

The girls’ track team racked up 70 points to gain a third place finish, which was the team’s best finish since the 2011 season where the Leopards also finished 3rd. The meet started at 8:30 am on a chilly Saturday morning and saw the Leopards roar to the podium with two high jumpers Makenna Jones and Karli Miller jump 4’10”, which tied them for 3rd place in the event. Miller then ran over to the long jump pit and teamed up with Emma Springer to gain 8th place finish (15’3″), while Springer placed 6th (15’6″). The running event finals began when the quartet of Diana Pukys, Kayla Gibson, Morgan Cole and Cassidy Kiko teamed up to cruise to an easy victory in the 4 x 800 relay with a winning time of 9:48.23. Makenna Jones took charge of her hurdle race placing 4th with a person best time of 16.08. Cassidy Kiko then stood atop of the podium as she repeated as county champion in the 1600 meter run with a season best time of 5:16.37. Teammate Grace Collins ran a fantastic race and managed to score an 8th place finish also with a season best of 5:38.52. Kayla Gibson then defended her title in the 800 meter run also running a season best time of 2:21.49. Next to gain a victory for the Leopards was Morgan Cole. Cole broke away from a pack of three runners with 400 meter to go and ran a season best time of 11:11.76. The Leopards final victory of the day came on the day’s final event the 4 x 400 meter relay. Freshman Diana Pukys led off the race and put the group in position near the top of the field. She handed off to Senior Leana Barnes who raced the team into contention handing off to Junior Cassidy Kiko. Kiko charged down the homestretch nearly putting the team in first place and handed the baton to Junior Kayla Gibson. Gibson made an impressive move with about 25 meter to go and took charge down the home stretch giving the team a season best time of 4:12.05.

Glen Oak won the meet with 94.5 points and Marlington was second with 72. Perry Was 4th with 68.
