The second annual Powderpuff Football game was a blowout.  Even though it was flag football, these girls delivered the big hits and got physical.  The Light Pink (Seniors/Sophmores) shutout the Dark Pink (Juniors/Freshman) 26-0 at Louisville Stadium on October 10.

Dark Pink got the ball first and Alison Batdorff launched several passes deep downfield, but none of them met their intended targets.  Batdorff took the game into her own hands on the next play as she ran for 17 yards on a fake punt.  Light Pink took over and Jaclyn Haddad wasted no time in running 72 yards to make it 6-0.  Haddad then completed a pass to Carli Jones for a one-point conversion to make it 7-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Dark Pink got the ball back starting at the 30-yard-line.  However, the drive went nowhere and Light Pink took over.  Haddad ran for a first down, which was followed by Courtney Butterfield running an 18-yard touchdown two plays later.  The conversion pass failed and the score remained 13-0 up until haltime.

Light Pink got the ball first in the second half trying to add to their lead.  Haddad ran for a first down and picked up another on a personal foul against Dark Pink, which moved the ball to the 8-yard-line.  Haddad ran in a touchdown on the next play.  The conversion failed so the score remained 19-0.

Dark Pink looked to break the shutout on the next drive.  They started the fourth quarter just 25 yards away from the endzone and drove all the way down to the 3-yard-line on 16 yards rushing by Batdorff.   However, the Light Pink defense held and by rule they got the ball back on their own 30-yard-line.

Haddad ran for a 70-yard touchdown on a fourth down to extend the lead to 25-0.  Then she capped that off with a completion to Brittany Bartee on the extra point attempt to make it 26-0.

Light Pink’s defense stopped Dark Pink on their final drive.  Jen Faber batted down a pass and had two tackles, including a hit on Batdorff to end the game.

Once again it was another fun-filled action packed Powderpuff Football game!
