The Louisville Leopards Boys Basketball team battled to an 18-18 tie at halftime, but a second half blitz in which Perry outscored Louisville 40-10 downed the Leopards, 58-28.  Joey DiCicco led Perry with 22 points, while Toby Minster led the Leopards with 9 points.

The Louisville Leopards boys basketball team remained competitive with the Perry Panthers for a half, before they succumbed to a Panther third quarter blitz.  Perry won the Hoops 4 Healing Classic game 58-28 at Lake High School.

After spotting Perry a 4-0 lead to start the contest the Leopards went on a 6-0 run on their own, which include a 3-pointer from the corner by Rocco Buccasso.  With the slim lead, the Leopards decided to be patient and run a stall on offense and Perry for the most part was content in laying back as well.  With the seconds ticking down in the first quarter, Minster found ‎Buccasso under the basket for an easy lay-in and a 10-6 lead.

Louisville built on this momentum going into the second quarter as Owen Gramoy scored on a pair of layups to give Louisville a 14-7 lead.  Perry hit a pair of free throws before Mike Schooley made a put-back layup to give the Leopards what would tie their biggest lead of the night at 16-9.  Perry then used a great defensive effort to spark a 9-0 run and took the lead.  It also did not help that the Leopards went cold from outside.  The teams went into the half knotted at 18.

Mitch Sluss broke away for a fast break layup a little over half a minute into the third quarter.  However, Perry answered with a 13-0 run that included two 3-pointers from Josh Gottshall and one from Joey DiCicco.  Louisville did not score again until Gramoy knocked home a shorter jumper at the 3:29 mark.  Those would be the last points of the quarter for the Leopards though, as Perry would explode on a 9-0 run to finish the quarter.  Panthers 40, Leopards 22.

Perry would score the first 6 points of the final period, which included a triple to start the period from DiCicco.  It was smooth sailing from there for the Panthers as Louisville was completely cold from beyond the arch and completely worn down from playing two nights in a row.  The Panthers Dallas Harper had swats on three consecutive Louisville possessions, all of which were turned into turnovers for Perry.  The Panthers prevailed 58-28.

After the game each coach got to select a Steve Llyod Player of the Game Award.  Llyod was the Walsh University Basketball Coach that passed away in February 2004 after battling Liver Cancer.  Gottshall took the award for Perry, while Minster received the award for the Leopards.

NEXT GAME: Friday, December 17 against at Northwest.  JV starts at 6:00, Varsity Begins Approximately 7:30.
