Wrestling Update: Poyser Places 6th at State

After back-to-back pins to open the tournament, Lucas Poyser was pinned 3 straight times to fall to sixth place in the state for the Division II 152-pound weight class.

Poyser first fell to St. Paris Graham Local’s Matt Stevens in 3:05, which knocked him out of the winner’s bracket and a chance for a state title. He then fell to Medina Highland’s Tyler Bloniak at the 4:52 mark, cancelling his chances for a top four finish. Finally, Tiffin Columbian’s Issac Williams pinned Poyser in 2:25 to drop him to sixth place in the final standings.

Though it came to a sour end, Poyser had a great run through the state tournament and still has a District Championship to show for this season. The junior will have one more chance at a title next year.
