Canton South stormed out of the gate to build a 37-16 halftime lead and then slowed the pace down in the second half before defeating visiting Louisville 59-49 at Charles “Red” Ash Gymnasium Friday Night.  Beatty's Winter HoodiesBlake Hoover led the Leopards with 18 points and Pavin Parks scored 17 for Louisville as well.

The Wildcats took a double digit lead at the end of the first quarter and exploded in the second quarter to expand their advantage to its peak of  22.  After running with the Louisville in the first half, Canton South’s gameplay changed to a slower conservative style in the second half.  But, they still did enough to win the contest and the Leopards never got within single digits.

South was led by Kyle Deckerd with 15 points, Trey Taylor with 12, and Dejon Newell with 11.  Both Deckerd and Austin Jolliff hit 3 three-pointers each and Armond Fontes added in 9 points as well.  With the win, Canton South goes a half game up on Alliance and Salem in the NBC Standings at 8-2 in the conference and 14-2 overall.

The Leopards never quit though and they went downtown 6 times in the second half.  Parks delivered 5 of those three-pointers and Joe Crank, who finished with 5, added the other.  Hoover scored consistently throughout the contest, but did his most damage in the final quarter that saw him score 8 points.

With the loss the Leps fall to 3-12 overall and 1-9 in the NBC.  They will look to snap their 7-game losing streak when they travel to Tallmadge Tuesday.
