West Branch Snaps Louisville’s NBC Unbeaten Streak

West Branch 2, Louisville 1

The Louisville Leopards fell to the host West Branch Warriors 2-1 on rainy, blistery Wednesday evening in Beloit. The loss snaps the Leopards 17-game unbeaten streak in conference play. Louisville is now 2-3-2 overall on the season and 2-1 in the NBC.

Rachel Baughman scored the only goal for the Leopards via a pass from Devin Kring. The score gave Beatty's Sports Long Sleeved Leopard NationLouisville a 1-0 advantage with 19:12 left in the first half.

The Warriors immediately answered back with a pair of goals in a span of 7:24. First Melinda Trimmer collided with Leopards defenders, but pushed the ball just enough ahead to find the net. The second West Branch goal came with 9:21 remaining in the first half when Jenna Smith looped the ball just below the goal post and into the net.

Louisville had a few opportunities to score in the second half, but failed to tie the game. The Warriors quick defense, coped with a thick rain, also did not help the Leopards cause.

The last time Louisville lost an NBC game was a 3-0 defeat at West Branch back on October 5, 2011. During the Leopards 17-game conference unbeaten streak, their only non-victory was a 1-1 tie against the Warriors back on October 3, 2012. Louisville is now 2-9-1 against West Branch all-time which includes a 1-5 record at Beloit.

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next travel to Lake to take on the Blue Streaks on Monday, September 15 at 7:00 PM.
