The Louisville Leopards Varsity Wrestling Team upended the visiting West Branch Warriors 52-18 beattys-sports-wrestling-shirt-2016-17Thursday Evening at Louisville High School. With the victory, Louisville improves their overall mark to 4-1 and remains unbeaten in the NBC at 4-0.

The Leopards never trailed as four different wrestlers won by pin during the match. Blake Robbins (220), Jax Leonard (138), Jager Kendrick (160), and Jimmy Leonard (195) all won by fall to lead Louisville.

Overall the Leopards won 10 of their 14 matches during the NBC dual match. Carter Mickley (132) earned a major decision by the count of 22-9 to lead the rest of the pact. Brock Mehl (170) and Jesse Curlutu (182) also won back-to-back decisions in the later bouts for Louisville.

The Warriors handed the Leopards 18 points from forfeits in the lighter weight classes. Louisville beneficiaries included Andy Graham (106), Ryan Jakubiak (120), and Jordan Thompson (126).

West Branch was led by Christian Wayt (113) and Dylan Miller (145) who each won by pin. Ian Sharp (285) and Cameron Martig (152) also picked up decisions for the Warriors who drop to 1-3 in conference competition.

Middle School: Louisville 59, West Branch 18

The Louisville Middle School wrestling team improved to 18-2 in dual meets this season and 4-0 in the NBC beating West Branch last night 59-18.

Winning for the Leopards at 86 was Charlie Simpson with a pin, at 92 Colton Dugan with a technical fall, at 110 Dale Stauffer with a pin, at 116 Nick Sirohman with a decision 6-4, Davin Rhoads at 122 had a forfeit (win), at 128 Daniel Kennedy won a decision 4-2, Austin Stauffer at 134 had a pin, at 142 Clay Mitchell had a forfeit (win), 150 Justice Bolyard had a pin, at 160 JD Spitaleri had a pin, 172 Noah Peterson had a pin and in an extra match at 80 pounds Lacy Harvey won with a pin.

UP NEXT: The Leopards will next compete at the Austintown Tournament at Fitch High School on Friday, January 20 at 1:00 PM.
