Volleyball Wins Lake Invitational & Gets 500th Team Victory

Louisville Leopards Volleyball 2015 Lake Nike Invitational Champions

Louisville – 1st

The Louisville Lady Leopards Varsity Volleyball team downed the Lakeview Bulldogs 27-25, 25-18 in the Championship Match to win the Lake Nike Invitational for the first time since 2010. Louisville continues their best start to a season since 2000 (15-0) by improving their record to 9-0.

Team Leaders in the Championship Match included Grace Jackson with 13 digs, Paige Haren with 30 assists, Emily Hollifield with 9 kills, and Sarah Lairson who was the top server with 9 points & 1 ace. Brynn Guist, Haren, and Lairson also had 1 block each.

Louisville Vs. Kent Roosevelt Volleyball Video Highlights

The Lady Leopards also defeated the Kent Roosevelt Rough Riders 25-20, 26-24 in the opening round and the Medina Battling Bees 25-19, 25-19 in the Semifinals. The win over the Rough Riders was the 500th victory for the Louisville Volleyball Program. The Lady Leopards all-time record now stands at 502-386 (.565).

Louisville Leaders in the win over Kent Roosevelt included Guist with 15 kills, Haren with 17 assists, and Jackson with 14 digs. Haren and Savannah Miner were the top servers for the Leopards with 6 points & 1 ace each. Hollifield and Haren also had 1 block each.

Louisville Vs. Medina Volleyball Video Highlights

Top Louisville Performers in the win over Medina included Emily Hollifield who had 8 Kills, 6 Digs, and tied Guist with a team-leading 1 Block. Paige Haren also had 20 assists and tied Georgia Kiko, Lairson, and Jackson as the top server with 5 points & 2 aces.

The JV and Freshman Leopards Volleyball Teams also went undefeated in their tournaments at GlenOak.

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next host the Minerva Lions on Tuesday, September 15. JV will begin at 5:00 PM and Varsity will follow at 6:00 PM.
