Volleyball Rallies in 2nd & 3rd Sets to Sweep Blue Streaks
Louisville 25-25-25, Lake 14-19-20
The Louisville Lady Leopards Varsity Volleyball Team swept the visiting Lake Blue Streaks 25-14, 25-19, 25-20 Thursday Evening in the Home Opener at Louisville High School. With the win, the Lady Leopards are now 2-0 on the season.
Offensive Leaders for Louisville included Paige Haren with game-high 38 assists and Brynn Guist with game-high 12 Kills. Grace In addition, Jackson and Georgia Kiko each were the game’s top servers with 9 points a piece. Kiko also had a team-leading 2 aces.
Jackson led the Lady Leopards defense with a game-high 23 digs. Amanda Begue also had a game-high 2 blocks.
Louisville sailed past Lake in the first set 25-14. In the second set, the Blue Streak took leads of 5-0 and 16-9 before the Leopards used a 12-1 run to pull ahead 21-16. Louisville went on to win the second set 25-19.
A familiar scenario presented itself in the third and deciding game. The Lady Leopards fell behind 14-9, but rode a 10-2 run to go up 19-16. The Lady Streaks got as close as 20-18, but Louisville ripped off 4 straight points and cruised to a 25-20 win.
This is the first time either team has defended home court in the series since the Blue Streaks rallied from a two set deficit to knock out the Lady Leopards 13-25, 18-25, 25-22, 25-23, 15-12 in the 2012 DI Sectional Final held at Lake. This also snaps a span of five previous regular season match-ups where the away team won as it had not happened since Leopards downed the Streaks at LHS in the season finale in 2009. Louisville has won four straight matches in the series overall.

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next host the Salem Quakers on Tuesday, September 1. JV will begin at 5:00 PM and Varsity will follow around 6:00 PM.
