Volleyball Prevails in Battle of Undefeateds at Marlington

Louisville 25-23-20-25-15, Marlington 11-25-25-17-9

The Louisville Lady Leopards Varsity Volleyball team prevailed over the host Marlington Dukes 25-11, Beatty's Dark Blue Shirt 201523-25, 20-25, 25-17, 25-9 in a battle of undefeated teams Thursday at MHS. With the victory, Louisville improves to 6-0 overall and now stands alone atop the NBC at 4-0.

Emily Hollifield led the Lady Leopards with a team-high 17 kills and a team-high 5 blocks. Sarah Lairson was Louisville’s top server with 18 points, Grace Jackson finished with a team-high 36 digs, and Paige Haren also ended the evening with a team-high 46 assists.

The Leopards set the tone early on by taking the first set 25-11. The Dukes struck back by narrowly winning the next two sets to take a 2-1 lead. However, Louisville rallied to win each of the final two sets 25-17 and 25-9 to take the match and claim sole possession of first place in the NBC Standings.

With the victory, Leopards Head Coach Jodie Cress now stands alone atop the Louisville Volleyball Coaching Wins list with 141. She passed the previous leader Penny DeShields who had 140. The Leopards have now won 10 of their last 12 against the Dukes.
