UNDEFEATED! Girls Swim Team Goes 13-0, Boys Finish 7-6
The Lady Leopards Girls Swim Team completed an undefeated season for the first time in school history as they capped off a 13-0 run by drowning Cloverleaf 115-52. The boys also were victorious by a count of 107-58 to finish above the .500 mark at 7-6.
The meet began with the honoring of the seven Louisville Seniors: Regina Bals, Stephanie Brookens, Matt Campbell, Stephanie Horton, Hannah Monter, Megan Radalia, and Stephanie Spehar. These seven student athletes have worked hard for the Louisville Swimming program and were ready to defend their home pool for the final dual meet of their careers.
Leading the girls team was Stephanie Brookens, who also finished the regular season unbeaten at 26-0 in individual events by landing on deck first in the 50 and 200 Freestyle races. She, along with Spehar, Horton, Amy Yu, was also part of both the 200 Medley and 400 Freestyle Relay teams that took first place at Tuesday’s meet.
Horton also had two first place finishes individually in the 200 IM and 100 Breastroke. Ashley Brookens and Tina Yu also had first places individually and the 200 freestyle relay team of Ashley Brookens, Audre Gonda, Rachel Morris, and Angela Godwin took first as well.
Matt Campbell, the lone Senior on the boys team, continued to dominate capturing individual first place finishes in the 50 and 100 Freestyle races. He finished 25-1 in individual races for the season and also anchored the winning 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams for the boys squad. Those teams also included: Keegan Ossler, Matt Walters, Caleb Walters, and Jake Cummings.
Jake Cummings, Caleb Walters, and Zack Zakaski also all had first place finishes in individual events.
The boys and girls swim team’s regular season is over and they will now be looking forward to competing in pursuit of a District, Regional, or the ultimate goal of a State Title.

The Varsity Boys Swimming Sectional will be held on Friday, February 10 at 5:30 PM at the University of Akron’s Ocasek Natatorium. The Versity Girls Swimming Sectional will be held at the same venue on Saturday, February 11 with competition beginning at 1:15 PM.
