11. Poyser Wins Back-To-Back District Titles
Back on February 25 at Alliance High School, 160-pound Louisville Senior Lucas Poyser completed a run to win his second straight individual District Title.

Poyser earned an early takedown in the Championship Match against Walsh Jesuit’s Dominic Scarberry and held his lead throughout the contest to earn a 6-3 victory.
Earlier, Poyser made his way through the District field by pinning Fairless’s David Arnold in 0:41. He then used two takedowns to earn a 5-4 decision over CVCA’s Tyler Maclellan. Finally, in the District Semifinals dominated in every phase of the match, but could not quite pin Chagrin Fall’s Ricky Kochert. After four takedowns, 10 nearfall points, and 2 reversals, the NBC Player of the Year stormed into the title match with a 22-6 technical fall victory.
Poyser also defeated Crestwood’s Mitchel Porter in overtime to claim the Division II Firestone District Title in the 152-pound weight class in 2011. He would go on to finish 6th in the State Meet in 2011 and 5th in the State Meet in 2012. The 2011-12 Leopards Wrestling team finished with a 4-3 winning season.
