The 3rd Seed Louisville Leopards Boys Soccer Team was edged by the visiting 6th Seed Tallmadge Blue Devils 2-1 in the DII Medina Sectional Finals Saturday Afternoon at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the loss, Louisville finishes the 2017 campaign with a record of 7-8-2.

The Leopards got on the board first when Bradley Terraone-timed a Bailey Adams pass off the finger tips of the Blue Devils Goalie and into the back of the net. That Louisville score came just 4:13 into the contest, but it would be their final score of the game.

In the first half Jason Betts took a pass from Ross Haught, dribbled side to side, and banged in the game-tying goal with 16:33 remaining in the first half. Betts later delivered the assist on the game winning goal to Nick Hussing with 13:33 left to play in the game.

Despite the loss, the Leopards defense played excellent all afternoon long. Jordan Davis, Kyle Mayle, Derek Zeller, and several others were there time-and-time again to turn away the Blue Devils.

Grove Appliance Alliance Ohio AdGoalie Clayton McLaughlin was sensational in recording 18 saves for Louisville. He made a leaping save to preserve the Leopards lead midway through the first half and a few minutes later knocked aside a Tallmadge penalty kick. With his performance, McLaughlin set the school record for most saves in a single season with 169. Austin Terra held the previous record with 158 saves back in 2014 season.

This was the first meeting between the Leopards and Blue Devils since Louisville won at Tallmadge 4-0 back on September 8, 2007. The Leopards still hold the edge in the all-time series 2-1-1, but they are an even 1-1 in matches played at Louisville. The Leopards finish 2-6-2 at home with the loss.

Louisville is now 11-18 in tournament play all-time which includes a 9-7 mark at home. They are also 9-14 in Division II tournament games in their history.
