Austintown Fitch 3, Louisville 2
The Louisville Lady Leopards Varsity Softball team dropped a 3-2 decision to the host Austintown Fitch Falcons Monday Evening at AFHS. With the loss, Louisville falls to 7-4 on the season.
Aliyah English and Kaycee Ollis each had 2 hits to lead the Leopards. Louisville scored the opening run of the contest when Lexi Zavarelle scored on an error via a ball put in play by Grace Jackson.
The Leopards would not score again until they loaded the bases in the seventh inning. Emily Cantley drove in Riley Bobo, but Louisville could not manage to bring the tying run home.
In the circle, Morgan Harris pitched 6 innings, gave up just 2 hits, and struck out 6 for the Leopards. She was only out-done by the Falcons Alex Franken who pitched a complete game, gave up 2 runs on 7 hits, and struck out 7.
Franken was also 1-for-1 at the plate with an RBI double. Lainie Simons had the only other hit for Austintown Fitch and scored the other two Falcons runs as well.
The Leopards are now 1-1 against the Falcons all-time and this was their first ever trip to Fitch. The two met in the preseason with Louisville winning 3-2 at home, but Austintown flipped the script this time around. The Lady Leopards are now 2-3 in non-conference games this year.
UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next host the Carrollton Warriors on Tuesday, April 19 at 5:00 PM.
