Softball Falls to GlenOak in Sectional Finals

The Louisville Leopards Varsity Softball Team fell to the host GlenOak Golden Eagles 5-1 in the DI Massillon Sectional Finals Friday. The loss snaps Louisville’s 13-game winning streak as they drop to 20-7.
Erin Allison pitched a complete game 3-hitter and struck out 11 to lead the Golden Eagles to a District Tournament Birth. Her lone hiccup came in the sixth inning, when the Leopards Kylie Zifer cracked a mammoth solo homer well beyond the fence in left-center field. Grace Jackson and Katie Cozy had the only other hits for Louisville.
Currick hit a 2-run triple and Cook hit a 2-run double to lead GlenOak offensively. Matthew also drove in a run and Lauer scored twice for the Golden Eagles. GlenOak advances to face the North Canton Hoover Vikings in the District Semifinals at Washington High School on Thursday, May 21 at 5:00 PM.
The Golden Eagles have now defeated the Leopards in 2 out of their last 3 meetings. Louisville now trails the all-time series 12-20, which includes a 4-10 record at GlenOak and a 1-3 record against GOHS. The Lady Leopards are now 29-31 all-time in tournament play.
