Louisville 6, Massillon 0

Six different Leopards players scored goals during Louisville’s 6-0 win over Massillon at Paul Brown Tiger Stadium Thursday evening.  The win improves the Leopards to 6-4 on the year.

The Leopards got on the board first at the 30:17 mark of the first half.  Kyle Baker kicked a shot on goal that was blocked by the Massillon goalie.  A Tiger player then attempted to kick it out of the danger zone and it fell Beatty's Sports Grey Louisville Athletics T-Shirtright at the feet of Baker who put it into the net.  Several questionable fouls on the Leopards disallowed Louisville from scoring again, while great Louisville defense by Cody Gotshall, Austin Hallas, Goalie Austin Terra, and others kept the Tigers scoreless throughout the entire game.

Louisville’s offense caught fire in the second half.  First, Riley Groves booted a corner kick on the narrower Massillon field dimensions that crossed to the opposite side of the goal box.  That’s when Hallas headed the ball into the air towards the net.  The Massillon goalie misjudged the ball and it landed in the back of the net to make it 2-0 Leps.

Next, Harrison Raub received a pass on a breakaway, spun around a defender, and scored the third Louisville goal of the night.  Then Michael Lautner blasted home a goal from 24 yards away before Groves booted in a free kick from a simliar distance.  Groves’ goal was the Leopards third in a span of 6:28.

The final score of the contest came when Jerry Julian launched a perfectly placed corner kick into the goal box.  Corey Wilson headed it home to make it 6-0 Louisville.  Wilson nearly headed home a goal on a throw-in from the left corner just minutes before and on his second chance he nailed his target.  The header goal was Wilson’s second in as many games.
