The Louisville Leopards shutout the visiting Ravenna Ravens 35-0 in the home opener back on September 9, 1994.
Louisville’s defense dominated from start to finish. On the first play from scrimmage, Louisville’s Jason Siegfried intercepted a Ravenna pass and returned it 42 yards to the house to give the Leopards a 7-0 advantage just 33 seconds in.
Louisville’s defense bent, but did not break on the next drive as the Ravens drove to the Leopards 13. The drive stalled there and a 30 yard field goal attempt missed to leave the away side of the scoreboard blank. However, Ravenna got a break two plays later when they recovered a Louisville fumble on the 18-yard-line. Penalties and the Leopards defense took over as the Raven drive resulted in a loss of 14 yards. Ravenna elected to punt from the Louisville 32 and pinned the Leopards on their Own 6.
On the next play, Runningback Dan Wilson ran to the left and looked to get stopped at the line. Regaining his momentum, he found a way to the second level and sprinted to the endzone for what may be the longest run in Louisville Football History. The closest defender was about 25 yards away when Wilson walked across the goal line on the 94 yard score. Wilson also ran in the two point conversion to put the Leopards ahead 15-0 at the 2:57 mark of the first quarter.
Wilson would finish with 206 yards of offense and 3 touchdowns. After a scoreless second quarter, Wilson caught a 56 yard touchdown pass from Louisville Quarterback Ryan Crislip and also found the endzone on a 10 yard run in the third quarter. Wilson complied 150 yards on 17 carries on the ground.
The Leopards out-gained the Ravens 331-166 on the night and forced 4 Ravenna turnovers. Crislip finished with 105 yards passing and Shawn Conrad from a yard out in the fourth quarter to cap off the 35-0 win.
