Leopards Edge Lions 41-39 – Boys Freshman Basketball
Louisville 41, Minerva 39
The Louisville Leopards Boys Freshman Basketball Team squeaked out a 41-39 victory against the visiting Minerva Lions last Thursday (December 21) at Louisville Elementary School. With the win, Louisville improved to 5-2 overall and 4-1 against NBC foes.
Elliot Tornow scored 7 of his game-high 9 points in the second half to lead the Leopards. Kole Mayle also scored 8 and both Michael Ball and Kurt Haren added 6 to round out the top Louisville scorers.
The Leopards trailed early as the Lions took a 14-8 lead after the first quarter and a 24-17 lead at the break. Louisville rallied to outscore Minerva 13-5 in the third to take the slimmest of leads into the final frame 30-29. The Leopards edged out the Lions in the fourth quarter 11-10 to maintain their advantage and earn the victory.
Minerva was led by Martineau who dropped home a game leading 9. Common and Swogger also tacked on 8 each for the Lions.
