The 4th Seed Louisville Leopards defeated the 5th Seed West Branch Warriors 50-21 in the First Round of beattys-sports-wrestling-shirt-2016-17the Division II, Region 12 Team Wrestling Tournament Wednesday at Canfield High School. With the win, Louisville improved to 5-1 on the year.

The Leopards claimed 10 of the 14 matches against the Warriors. Leading the way with pins for Louisville were Jax Leonard (138), Brent Paulus (145), Brock Mehl (170), and Jimmy Leonard (195).

Ryan Jakubiak (126) also earned an 18-2 technical fall victory during a 26-0 Leopards run. Others earning decisions for Louisville included Carter Mickley (132), Jesse Curlutu (182), and Blake Robbins (220),  Logan Vanicek (106) and Andy Graham (120) also won by forfeit.

Canfield 43, Louisville 27

The 4th Seed Louisville Leopards fell to the top seed Canfield Cardinals 43-27 in the Division II, Region 12 Quarterfinals of the Team Wrestling Tournament Wednesday at Canfield High School. With the victory, Louisville dropped to 5-2 on the year.

The match included big runs by both teams with the Leopards dominating in the lightweights and the Cardinals taking the heavier weight classes. Louisville actually held a 27-6 lead before Canfield won the final 8 match-ups in scoring 37 unanswered points.

Four of the Leopards 5 victories came via pins. These winners included Logan Vanicek (106), Andy Graham (113), Carter McKinley (132), and Jax Leonard (138). Ryan Jakubiak (120) also won a 7-4 decision in his match.

Canfield moves on to face 2nd seed Alliance in the Regional Semifinals on February 1.
