Louisville Shuts Down Alliance to Win 3rd Straight

The Louisville Leopards shutout the visiting Alliance Aviators 4-0 Wednesday Evening. With their third straight victory, the Leopards improve to 3-4 overall and 3-1 in the NBC.
Alex Hollifield pitched 5.2 scoreless innings and struck out 5 to lead Louisville.With the decision, 
Hollifield improves to 2-1 on the season. Jordan Hughes also pitched the remaining 1.1 innings and picked up his first save of the season.
The Leopards brought the bats out early as they put up a 3-spot in the first inning. Hughes and Hollifield hit back-to-back 1-out singles and Stephen Kerzan walked to load the bases. Hughes next came home via Garrett Yoder’s sacrifice fly for the first run of the contest.
Joe Crank batted next and ripped a 2-run single to center scoring Hollifield and Kerzan. Crank would later double in fourth to finish with 2 of Louisville’s 6 hits. Kerzan singled home Connor Zwick in the fifth inning for the only other run.
The Leopards have now won two straight over the Aviators. This is also their first victory over Alliance at home since 2011, the last time they swept the Aviators.
UP NEXT: The Leopards will rematch with the Aviators on Thursday, April 17 at 4:30 PM. Varsity will be at Alliance and JV will be home. Freshman will also be at Marlington at 4:30.

Tyler Croxton went 3-for-4 with 4 runs batted in and Brody Hahn also went 3-for-4 and batted in 3 runs to lead Louisville. Kyle Ashcraft also had 2 hits and scored 3 runs for the Leopards.
On the mound, Paul Howard improved to 2-1 on the season. He pitched all five innings, struck out 5, and did not give up a single earned run.
