Issue 12 Louisville School District Levy Passed

Beatty's Sports Spring Sports 2013Voters passed the first operating levy for Louisville City Schools since 1992 on Tuesday. With the passage of the emergency operating levy, the school district will receive $5.9 million over the next five years.

With a 42.9% voter turnout, the levy received passage 3,461 (62%) to 2,119 (38%). The new levy should save about 20 teaching jobs and avoid other cuts. Homeowners will pay about $181 more a year in taxes on a $100,000 home over the course of the levy.
