Louisville 2, Alliance 1

Stephen Kerzan delivered a 2 out, 2-run single in the top of the seventh to stun the Alliance Aviators and give Louisville a 2-1 lead that they wouldn’t relinquish. With the victory, the Leopards Beatty's Sports Baseballl Shirt 2013are now 4-8 and more importantly are tied with the Aviators for second place in the NBC at 4-2.

On the mound, Pavin Parks pitched the entire contest, struck out 3, and gave up one unearned run. Parks is now 3-0 on the season.

Aviators fans were ready to start their cars as the Leopards were backed up against the wall. Alliance had shutout Louisville for 13 2/3 innings as the Aviators recorded two quick outs in the top of the seventh. Hope for the Leopards seemed faint because their last and only hit of the game had come on an infield single by Riley Groves back in the first inning.

But then Parks singled to left field and a spark was lit. The next 10 pitches thrown by Alliance missed the strikezone as both Jordan Hughes and Joe Crank drew four pitch walks.

The bases were loaded for Kerzan. On a 2-2 count, the Freshman 1st Baseman singled to left field scoring both Parks and the pinch-running Zach Shea. The sparks had erupted into flames and Louisville out of nowhere had robbed Alliance of almost sure victory.

Louisville has now won their last five games on the road at Alliance, but amazingly the series is split 5-5 in the past 10 meetings overall.
