Louisville Leopards Basketball White Shirt - Beatty's Sports Christmas 2017The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team fell to the host New Philadelphia Quakers 52-35 at New Philadelphia High School Monday Night. With the loss, Louisville drops to 4-13 on the year.

Ten different Lady Leopards scored during the contest led by 6 from Senior Ellie Jackson. Jackson also finished with a team-high 4 steals and matched Paige Cole with a team leading 4 rebounds. Sydney Bast and Hanna Lautzenheiser also added 5 points each for Louisville.

Grove Appliance Alliance Ohio AdThe Lady Quakers were led by Aaliyah Currence who cashed in 18 of her game-high 26 points in the first half and snagged 6 boards for the game. Megan Maurer also hit 2 three-pointers to finish with 6 and both Kate McEwan and Josie Pry each scored 5. Pry, along with Rachel Anderson also pulled down a game leading 7 rebounds each for New Philadelphia.

The Leopards out-shot the Quakers 30% (12 of 40) to 29% (18 of 62) from the field. However, New Philadelphia dominated the glass 34-24, which included a 20-11 edge on the offensive boards to generate more second chance opportunities. The Quakers also out-scored the Leopards 20-0 in points off turnovers as New Philadelphia’s defense produced 31 takeaways. 

With the loss, the Leopards have now lost 6 of their past 7 meetings against the Quakers. Louisville now trails the all-time series 4-8, but the series is still even in games played at New Philadelphia 3-3. The Lady Leopards are now 0-6 in non-conference, but will still host non-league foes Canfield and Canton Central Catholic to end the regular season.
