Erin Hahn matched the Lions first half point total as she scored all of her game-high 11 points in the first two quarters and finished with a game leading 9 rebounds to lead the Leopards. Kayla Gibson and Sherilynn Mullett also each added 6 a piece to round out Louisville’s top scorers.

The Leopards defense dominated the contest as they shutout the Lions from inside the arch (0 for 26). Minerva finished 4 of 43 (9%) from the field with all of their made shots coming via the three-point variety (4 of 17).

Coletta Miller hit a three-pointer on the Lions opening possession. Minerva would not score again until Maddie Foutz hit a three-pointer a full eight minutes later to start the second quarter. That would be the only Lions field goal of the second quarter as they would have to wait until Nelle Yankovich hit a three-pointer with 2:30 left in the third quarter for their next score from the floor. She would finish with a team-high 7 for MHS.

This is the second straight game in which the Lady Leopards have held their opponent to without a field goal for a period longer than 13 minutes. This 13:05 drought was only slightly shorter than the Dukes 13:33 drought Wednesday, which happened during a similar timeframe during the game.

Yankovich would hit another triple at the 1:15 mark of the third quarter to get Minerva to within 33-19. However, the Lions would manage just two fourth quarter free throws during the final 9:15 of the game. As a result, Louisville’s defense produced 3 different quarter long shutouts of their opposition from the field.

The success of the Leopards defense was propelled by forcing 16 steals. Mullett led Louisville with 4, while both Maggie Galentine and Gibson tallied 3 each.

With the victory, the Leopards have now won 7 out of their last 8 against the Lions which includes the last 4 at Minerva. Louisville now leads the all-time series 44-20, which includes a 20-11 mark at MHS. The Leopards also finish 39-19 against the Lions in NBC matchups dating back to the league’s formation in 1989-90.
