The Leopards only score came in the 25-yard portion of the scrimmage. After netting negative yardage on the first three downs, Junior Quarterback Jared Mathie escaped pressure on fourth down and threw a 27 yard touchdown pass to Sophomore Davis Burick. Burick made the grab at the goal line of the right side of the endzone to tie the scrimmage at 1-1.

The Leopards defense dominated the ensuing possession. Maverick Pugh stormed in for a sack on first down. Then on third down, Jack Davis pushed aside a Lake blocker to blow up a bubble screen for a 3 yard loss. Facing fourth down, the Blue Streaks went for broke and their drive ended with Louisville Senior Defensive Back Logan Thomas intercepting the throw at the 2 yard line.

The Leopards went 4-and-out on their final drive leaving the door open for Lake to win on the final play of the scrimmage. On the first play of the series, a short pass from Quarterback Paul Troyer to Wide Receiver Robert Harris went for 9 yards. Two plays later, Troyer went up the middle for an 11 yard touchdown run to give the Blue Streaks the edge on the final tally.

Senior Quarterback Trent Degenhard started for Louisville and went 4 for 6 for 38 yards in leading the Leopards into Lake territory. Max Hartline had a pair of 12 yard receptions on the drive and Logan Thomas made a first down catch for 10 yards as well. Louisville Defensive Backs Hartline and Dillon Rebuck stormed in to drop the Lake ball carrier for a loss on their first play from scrimmage. On 4th-and-3, Troyer flipped a screen pass to Rayshawn Brooks-Postlewait. A solid block from Wide Receiver Tye Hunt, sprung the Senior Runningback who broke 3 tackles on his way to 50 yard gain to the Leopards 13. Mathie took over at Quarterback for the second Louisville drive and set the tone early. On his first play at the helm, Mathie scampered up the middle, spun out of two would be tacklers, and ran ahead for a gain of 20. However, the Leopards would net just 7 yards on the next 8 plays. Mathie completed 4 of 5 passes on the possession for 35 yards highlighted by a 23 yard completion to Davis on the drive’s final play.

Lake wasted no time in moving the ball down field on their final 10-play possession. Troyer connected with Hunt over the middle for a 45 yard gain to the Leopards 25. Troyer busted ahead for a gain of 15 on the next play before handing off to Senior Runningback Dylan Reeves for an 11 yard run to pay dirt. The touchdown proved to be the difference in the preseason contest.
