Leopards Launch into Final NBC Run, Pound Warriors 80-44 – Boys Basketball

Louisville Leopards Navy Blue Hoodie Established 1924 - Beatty's Sports Fall 2017The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Basketball Team mauled the host Carrollton Warriors 80-44 Friday Night at Carrollton High School. With the victory, Louisville evens their record at 1-1 and is now 1-0 in the NBC.

Derek Zeller finished with a game-high 23 points and Brandon Wahl also poured in 22 to lead the Leopards. The two Louisville Seniors each connected on 4 three-pointers as the Leopards hit 12 as a team. Colton Jones also made 3 from beyond the arch and reached double digits with 11 for LHS.

Grove Appliance Alliance Ohio AdLouisville erupted out of the gate to take a 22-10 lead. The second quarter was the most competitive period, but the Leopards still out scored the Warriors 17-15 to take a 14-point lead into the break. The Louisville onslaught continued in the second half as they outscored Carrollton 41-19 to take the game 80-44.

The Warriors were led by Adam Chaney who scored a team-high 12 points. Chase Marmo also tacked on 11 and Brady Benner added 7. Nearly half of Carrollton’s points came from the line as they were the beneficiary of 21 of 29 (72%) made free throw attempts. The Leopards out-fouled the Warriors 24-14 for the game, but Carrollton eclipsed Louisville in turnovers 21-10.

With the victory, the Leopards have now won 5 straight against the Warriors and taken the last 4 matchups played in Carrollton. Louisville now leads the all-time series 48-29 dating back to the 1926 season.

UP NEXT: The Leopards will next travel to Washington High School to take on the Massillon Tigers on Saturday, December 9. JV will begin at 6:00 PM and Varsity will follow around 7:30 PM.

The Leopards JV Team opened NBC play with a 61-36 victory over the host Warriors at Carrollton High School Friday. With the win, Louisville is now 1-1 on the season.

Collin Chambers and Ryan Pukys each scored a game-high 13 points and hit 3 three-pointers each to lead the Leopards. Cory Noble also added 8 and Allen Staley dropped in 7 for Louisville.

The Warriors were led by Griffen Bagozzi who scored a team-high 12. Andrew Gotshall and Gage Poole each added 5 as well for Carrollton.
