It took 7 Weeks, but the Louisville Leopards earned their first win of the 1987 season against the host Canton Timken Trojans 27-14 at Fawcett Stadium on October 16, 1987.

Tailback George Ulrich paced the Leopards in rushing for 95 yards on 29 carries. Ulrich scored the opening touchdown from 2 yards out with 4:47 left in the first quarter.

Soon after Louisville Quarterback Brad McEowen also ran in a touchdown from a yard away to put Beatty's Sports Spring 2014 - Hat Lthe winless Leopards up 14-0 after the first quarter. McEowen would later connect with Receiver Aaron Seaman for a 10 Yard Touchdown Strike to give Louisville a 21-8 second quarter lead. McEowen finished 9 of 20 passing for 102 yards.

The Trojans made things interesting when Craig Campbell hit Chris Duck for a wild 54 yard touchdown off an option pass to cut the deficit to 24-14 in the third quarter. Campbell also scored on a 12 yard touchdown run in the first half.

On Special Teams, Kicker Mike Benzy booted through two extra points and a 22 yard field goal in both the third and fourth quarters to extend the Leopard lead. Their defense did the rest as Mac Aljancic had 2 of Louisville’s 3 interceptions in the game.

The victory improved the Leopards to 1-6 on the season and the Trojans dropped to 2-5.
