Louisville Falls to Bellbrook in Lacrosse State Championship

The fourth seeded Louisville Leopards Lacrosse team fell to the third seeded Bellbrook Golden Eagles 12-5 in the OHSLA Club Division State Championship Saturday Afternoon at Pioneer Field. With the loss, Louisville finishes the season with an 11-4 record.
Bellbrook scored the first five goals of the contest and led 9-1 at the half. Louisville’s lone first half goal came off the stick of Jake Mathie with 9:42 left in the second quarter.
Out of the break, the Golden Eagles tacked out two more goals to take an 11-1 advantage. Jared Holland snapped a 19:40 Leopard scoring drought with a goal late in the third quarter. Holland would then assist Austin Terra for a score a minute later to cut the deficit to 11-3 heading into the final quarter.
Louisville added two more goals in the closing minutes of the contest. Mark Soehnlen hit home an unassisted goal and Holland added his second goal of the game via an assist from Terra.
For Bellbrook, this is their first state crown after finishing as State Runner-Up last season. The Golden Eagles entered the tournament with a 5-7 record before ripping off four straight to win the title. In just their first season as a program, Louisville finishes as State Runner-Up.
