Louisville Earns 18th Straight Victory Over West Branch

Louisville 25-25-25, West Branch 12-23-11

The Louisville Lady Leopards rallied in the second set and dominated the other two sets in sweeping the West Branch Warriors 25-12, 25-23, 25-11. The win is the Lady Leps 18th consecutive over West Branch since 2005.

Kristen Bricker made her presence known Tuesday night at LHS. The Junior Setter was the match’s top server with 13 points and 3 aces, had a game-high 29 assists, and also had the most digs with 12. On the other end of her assists were Jordan Monnot who had a game-high 14 kills and Megan Stocker who sent down 10 kills. Ashton Ruffing also had 1 solo block defensively.

The Lady Leps faced their most adversity in the second set. After amassing a 15-6 lead, West Branch scored 9 straight points to tie the game at 15-15. The Warriors continued their run to take a commanding 22-18 lead. A block by Taylor Robbins and 2 kills by Monnot aided the Leopards in a 4-0 run to tie the game back up at 22-22. West Branch burned a timeout after that and scored the next point to retake the advantage. But Monnot laid the hammer down to tie the game at 23-23 before Louisville scored the next two points to take the match 25-22.

In the first set, Louisville held an 11-8 advantage before taking 14 of the final 17 points to win the set. Motivation for the run was provided by Head Coach Jodie Cress who fired up the Leps during a timeout at 13-8. In the final set Louisville felt little resistance in defeating West Branch 25-11 to take the set and the match. The win pulls the Lady Leopards to 13-4 overall on the season and keeps them in pace with Minerva in the NBC at 8-1.
