Louisville Surges in 3rd Quarter to Win at West Branch – Boys Basketball

The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Basketball Team used a dominating second half to turn a close game into a 56-38 road victory over the host West Branch Warriors Tuesday Night. With the victory, Louisville improves to 9-6 overall and 8-1 in the NBC.
Chris Libertore again spearheaded the Leopards efforts with a game-high 20 points and a game-high 5 rebounds. Jared Mathie also scored 11 points and Brandon Wahl added 9 for Louisville.
The Leopards edged the Warriors 17-13 in the first quarter and the two teams played even in the second quarter to keep the difference at 4 points during the half. Louisville surged ahead by outscoring West Branch 18-4 during the third quarter to take a 46-28 lead into the fourth quarter. The Leopards and Warriors each scored 10 points in the final period and Louisville took the game.
The two squads made the most out of their shot attempts from the field. The Leopards shot 59% (23 of 39) from the floor, while the Warriors made 50% (16 of 32) of their field goal attempts. Louisville also held an 18-11 edge in rebounding and forced 7 steals on defense. Derek Zeller finished with a game-high 3 thefts for LHS.

West Branch (5-9, 1-8) was led by TJ DeShields who dropped home a team-high 15 points. Brett Butcher also scored 11 and Michael Boosz finished with 6 points & a game-leading 5 rebounds.
With the victory, the Leopards have now defeated the Warriors 9 straight times overall and 5 consecutive times at West Branch. Louisville now leads the all-time series 55-24 dating back to the 1962-63 season.
UP NEXT: The Leopards will next host the Alliance Aviators on Friday, January 27 in a battle for first place in the NBC. JV will start at 6:00 PM and Varsity will follow around 7:30 PM.
