Libertore Scores 39 in Leopards Win at Salem

The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Basketball Team earned their first victory of the season by the count of 77-65 over the host Salem Quakers at John A. Cabas Gymnasium Friday Night. With the victory, Louisville improves to 1-2 overall and begins NBC play with a 1-0 mark.
Chris Libertore poured in a game-high 39 points and pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds to lead the Leopards to victory. Libertore scored 23 points in the first half alone and finished with 15 made field goals on the night. Brandon Wahl also hit 4 three-pointers to finish with 15 and Jared Mathie added 9 points to go along with 3 steals.

Louisville held a 24-8 rebounding edge in the opening half which helped them build a 37-20 lead at the break. The Quakers rallied back to cut the deficit to 57-50 by the end of the third quarter, but the Leopards would win the fourth quarter to earn the double digit victory.
Salem’s four double digit scorers were led by Mitch Davidson who scored a team-high 21. Chase Ackerman also scored 15, Jon Gerace had 14 points and a team-high 8 boards, and Garrett Dickey also added 13 for the Quakers.
With the win, Louisville has won their last 4 meetings at Salem and their last 6 against the Quakers overall. The Leopards now lead the all-time series 10-5.

UP NEXT: The Leopards will next host the Massillon Tigers on Saturday, December 10. Freshman is slated to start at 5:00 PM, JV will follow around 6:00 PM, and Varsity will follow that around 7:30 PM.
