Libertore Pours In 20 During 59-42 Win Over Minerva

Minerva Louisville Girls Basketball 2011

HIGHLIGHTS:

Louisville 59, Minerva 42

Brianna Libertore scored 16 of her game-high 20 points in the first half to lead the Louisville Lady Leopards over the Minerva Lady Lions 59-42 Saturday afternoon at LHS.  Jordan Monnot also reached double digits with 10 points and Hannah Lemmon added 9.

The outcome in this contest was never in doubt.  Libertore outscored Minerva herself in the first half as Louisville took a 32-14 lead into the break.  The Lions had little height and no one to fill the shoes of the graduated Chelsie Butler.  Consequently, Libertore simply dominated the paint.

Out of the locker room, the Lady Leps went on an 8-0 run giving them their biggest lead of the game at 40-14.  The starters were then pulled and immediately after Minerva scored their first points from the field in over 11 minutes of game-time from a Jacklyn Russell three-pointer.  Russell finished tied with Mayson Hardgrove with a team high 10 points each.

Minerva outscored Louisville 17-11 in the fourth quarter to provide some excitement, but Lemmon removed all doubt by tallying 7 of her 9 points in the final period.

The Lady Leps went home with an impressive NBC opening 59-42 victory to improve to 3-0 overall on the season.
