Leps Win NBC Outright Courtesy of Cats, but Fall to Nordonia
Baseball:
Nordonia 11, Louisville 10
The Louisville Leopards finished the 2011 campaign with an 11-10 seventh inning loss to the Nordonia Knights Saturday in the High School Showcase at Canal Park in Akron. However, the tears of losing turned into tears of joy as the Leopards found out that the Canton South Wildcats beat the Alliance Aviators 6-4 to hand Louisville the NBC Title Outright.
The Leopards led Nordonia 10-4 in the middle of the sixth inning, but a host of errors allowed the Knights to tie the game by the end of the frame.
Nordonia’s Jake Sindelar led off the bottom of the seventh with a walk and then advanced to second on a passed ball. Anthony Saveriano then advanced Sindelar to third on a sacrifice. Louisville then optioned to load the bases creating a force at the plate. Anthony Ciocca was next and he hit a pitch to Leopards’ shortstop Jon Crank who couldn’t handle it. The error allowed Sindelar to score giving the Knights the victory.
Mike Kelly went 3-for-5 and scored three runs, Jeremy White had a double and drove in three runs, and Jon Crank also had two hits for the Leopards. Louisville finishes their 2011 season with a record of 14-11.
