Louisville 7, Minerva 5, 10 Innings

Jeremy White finished a single short of the cycle and drove in four runs to help lead the Leopards past Minerva 7-5 in ten innings.  White had timely hits in the sixth, eighth, and tenth innings, including what proved to be the game-winning RBI hit.  Jon Crank also provided an insurance run with a sacrifice fly in the tenth, before Riley Groves shut down the Lions in the bottom half of the inning for the win.  Groves shutout Minerva for the final 2.1 innings after Dillon Stertzbach pitched 7.2 innings giving up six runs (only 3 earned) and striking out five.  Mike Kelly and Christian Duckworth also had three hits each for the Leps.  Louisville still holds a one game lead in the NBC Standings over Alliance and Marlington with just three conference games left to play.

SOFTBALL

Louisville 7, Carrollton 3

Chandler Rice and Emily Isla pounded out seven of the Lady Leps twelve hits in helping Louisville avenge their only loss of the season with a 7-3 win over Carrollton.  Rice finished 4-for-4 with a triple, Isla had her second straight big game at the plate going 3-for-4 with a double, and Shelby Swigert also had a double for one of her two hits on the evening.  Carrollton hit Louisville pitcher Brittany Flanigan hard in the first inning, but unlike the game at Louisville Flanigan settled down to earn her twelfth victory of the season and second in as many days.  With just four conference games remaining, the Lady Leps are in the driver’s seat having established a two game lead in the loss column over both Marlington and Alliance (West Branch at Marlington results not reported as of the posting of this article).  The magic number is two to tie and three to win the NBC for the Lady Leps, and they will look to continue shrinking that number starting with hosting Northwest today.
