Lady Leopards Storm Crashes Aviators 84-14

Louisville 84, Alliance 14

The Louisville Lady Leopards ran over, around, and through the Alliance Aviators in an 84-14 mauling Monday night at Harry Fails Gymnasium. Desi Givens led all scorers with 15 and hit 3 three-pointers; while Angela Risaliti, Lauren Bricker, and Alyssa Jones all poured in double figure point totals in keeping the Lady Leps undefeated at 7-0.

The Lady Leps came out of the gate with a 9-0 run, before Alliance broke the shutout on a Takayla Payton made free throw.  In fact, Payton only had the opportunity to make that free throw because of a Louisville lane violation giving the Aviators a third shot from the charity stripe.  The Leopards answered with great defensive steals by Molly Brown and Mackenzie Storlie, and a 16-2 run ensued.  Alliance’s Cheyenne Harris hit a runner just before the end of the first period to make it 25-5.

The Aviators didn’t score another field goal until 3:50 left in the third quarter as the Leopards put together runs of 15-0 and 20-0 to take a 60-6 lead.  The Lady Leps scoring was created by their brilliant defensive play.  Unoffiicially the Lady Leps had 12 steals, including 3 alone from Brianna Libertore.  Nearly all of the Leopards starters were pulled around halftime, but the onslaught continued as the Leopards went on an 18-0 run following the Alliance field goal, which put them up by seventy.  The Leps defense continued to frustrate the Aviators, who didn’t score again until 1:54 left in the game when Rose Mancini scored on back-to-back buckets.  Louisville killed the clock and left an 84-14 winner.

Thirteen different Lady Leopards scored in the contest.  The only one that played and didn’t score was Hanna Lemmon, who more than made up for it on the defensive end with a monster block.  Louisville will look to continue there dominance when they host Massillon on Wednesday.
