Leopards Send 3 Swimmers, 1 Relay Team to Districts
The Louisville Leopards Swim Team competed in the Sectional Swim Meet at Ocasek Natatorium on the campus of the University of Akron Friday and Saturday. Overall the Boys Swim team scored 75 points and finished 8th out of 20 teams in the Division II Sectional and the Girls Swim team scored 96 points and finished 12th out of 17 teams in the Division I Sectional.
The Leopards had three individual swimmers and one relay team qualify for the District Swim Meet that will be held at Cleveland State this upcoming weekend.
For the boys, Matt Campbell took 6th with a time of 23.14 in the 50 Yard Freestyle to earn him a trip to Districts. He also qualified for Districts by finishing 7th in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 50.64. Finally, Campbell helped the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay team of Matt Walters, Jake Cummings, Caleb Walters, and himself finish 9th among Division II, Akron South Sectional Swimmers. They completed their quest with a time of 3:48.51 earning them a trip to CSU for the Northeast DII District Meet on Saturday, February 18 starting at Noon.
For the girls, Stephanie Brookens and Stephanie Horton each qualified for Districts in two events a piece. Brookens finished 5th in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 25.18 and 3rd in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 54.68. Horton finished 8th in the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:24.27 and 5th in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:10.64. The girls will compete at CSU in the Division I Northeast District Competition starting at 3 PM on February 17.
