Leopards Rout Ravens 11-1 to Finish Undefeated Preseason

Ravenna Raves at Louisville Leopards Boys Soccer Scrimmage 2012

Louisville Vs. Ravenna Video Highlights

Louisville 11, Ravenna 1

Kyle Baker and Riley Groves each scored four goals to lead Louisville past Ravenna 11-1 in the final scrimmage of the year.  The Leopards finish the preseason an undefeated 3-0 and outscored their opponents 30-2.

After twenty minutes of scoreless soccer, the Leopards ripped off five goals in a span of just 13 minutes.  The first goal came when Micah Neuenschwander skipped a pass to Michael Lautner just past midfield.  Then Lautner kicked a lead pass to Baker who finished off the scoring play.

Baker was also involved on the next goal.  He dribbled down the right sideline, Beatty's Sports 2012 Football Shirtheaded the ball to keep it in bounds, and then delivered a beautiful cross pass just outside the goal box.  Groves hustled over to the ball and kicked it home, 2-0.  Less the half minute later, Baker again led a pass ahead that found Austin Hallas hustling on the other end for the third score of the evening.

Baker then scored on his own fast break when Lautner deflected a Raven pass onto the Ravens side of the field.  Baker charged ahead, out-dribbled the defense, and booted it into the left side of the net.

Groves added the fifth and final goal of the half on a fast break at the 6:28 mark.  Groves and the Leopards were not done there though, as they came out of the half fired up for more.  A Lautner steal and assist set-up Groves to score his Hat Trick Goal.  Not to be outdone, Baker then added back-to-back goals with his fourth going in off the bottom of the crossbar.  The competition continued between the two teammates as Groves matched his feat with his fourth goal literally 60 seconds later.  That score gave Louisville a 9-0 lead with 35:04 left in the game.

The final two Louisville goals of the contest came from Paul Fox and Corey Wilson.  The first was set-up by Freshman Midfielder Trevor Burk who delivered a pass to a wide open Fox.  Fox then rocketed a perfect strike into the net from just outside the penalty box.  A few minutes later Groves sent a perfectly placed free kick into the goal box.  On the other end of the kick was Wilson who propelled the ball into the goal to make it 11-0 Louisville.

The Ravens tacked on a late goal in garbage time, but Louisville clearly owned the game 11-1.  The Leopards will look to carry their winning ways into the 2012 Regular Season that starts Tuesday when they host Crestwood.
