Louisville 53, Northwest 12

The Louisville Leopards Boys Wrestling team dominated the Northwest Indians from the start in a 53-12 slaughtering Thursday Evening.

After battling to a 12-12 tie in the 1st set, the Leopards Gavin Lovejoy (140 lbs) took down the Indians Austin Slusser in sudden death to give the Leps a 3-0 advantage.  In the second set, Ray Fitz (145 lbs) held off Eddie Ayers for an 8-5 minor technical decision before Lucas Poyser (152 lbs) and Marshall Mason (160 lbs) recorded back-to-back pins to give the Leopards a convincing 18-0 advantage.

Northwest countered in the fifth set when Nick Noble (171 lbs) escaped a minor technical decision with a pin on the Leopards Zach Katich.  But, Louisville answered with 29 straight points.  Travis Gray (189 lbs) earned an 18-0 major technical decision over Matt Schley, Cole McElroy (215 lbs) won by forfeit, Andrew Frederick (285 lbs) pinned Tyler Bowman in the heavy weight match to clinch the victory for the Leopards, Dakota Oliver (103 lbs) won by forfeit, and Todd Bradley (112 lbs) pinned Nick Ledford.

Louisville led 47-6, before Northwest’s Brandon Wilhelm (119 lbs) won an 11-5 minor technical decision over Justin Romy.  Louisville’s Logan O’Brien (125 lbs) escaped Kyle Harris 6-5 for a minor technical decision, before Northwest countered again on a minor technical decision of their own when Cody Blankenship (130 lbs) beat Garrott Oliver 6-4.

Finally, the match ended just as it began with a sudden death decision.  Adam LePar (135 lbs) put an exclamation point on the Leopards victory with a take down of Justin Smith.  The Leopards won 53-12.
