Leopards Lick Lions 68-36 in Boys Basketball
Louisville 68, Minerva 36
The Louisville Leopards upended the visiting Minerva Lions Friday Evening at Louisville High School. With the victory, Louisville improves to 14-3 overall and stays a perfect 11-0 in NBC play.
Drew Noble scored a game-high 16 points and pulled down a game-high 11 boards to lead the Leopards. Jake Pukys also poured in 9 and both Blake Hoover & Chris Libertore tacked on 8 a piece.
Louisville took command of the contest by pulling ahead 18-6 after the first period. Noble’s buzzer-beating shot in the corner ended the quarter and built Leopard momentum in the second as they took a 36-18 halftime advantage. Louisville rolled after that outscoring Minerva 13-9 in the third and 19-9 in a foul plagued fourth quarter.
The Leopards won the game on the glass as they out-rebounded the Lions 42-18. Louisville’s rebounding created second chance opportunities as they tallied 25 offensive boards against Minerva’s 11 defensive boards.
In addition, the Leopards were 26 of 55 (47%) from the floor and 5 of 20 (25%) from three-point land. The Lions shot just 9 of 41 (22%) from the floor, but did convert 7 of 15 (47%) three-point attempts. In fact, their first 15 points of the contest came from behind the arch. Joey Gill and Derek McNutt each scored a game-high 8 points to lead Minerva.
With the victory, the Leopards have now defeated the Lions six straight times at home and have won 11 of the last 12 in the series overall. Louisville leads the known all-time series 86-68.
UP NEXT: The Leopards will next travel to Carrollton to take on the Warriors on Tuesday, February 10. JV will begin at 6:00 PM and Varsity will follow at 7:30 PM.
