The Louisville Leopards Girls Soccer Team shutout the host Canton South Wildcats 12-0 Wednesday JennCanAdEvening at Clyde Brechbuhler Stadium. With the victory, Louisville clinched their third NBC title in team history finishing 6-0-1 in the conference. The Leopards also finish the regular season with a mark of 10-1-2.

The first 8 goals of the contest were scored by 8 different Louisville players. The final four goals of the game were scored by Tapanga Smith, Hannah Baughman, Kayla Gibson, and Bri Horton who all finished with two goals a piece for the Leopards.

Louisville dominated the contest from start to finish scoring 4 goals in the opening half and then tying a Beatty's Blue Louisville Leopards Hoodieteam record by scoring 8 goals in the second half. The Leopards also scored 8 goals in the first half at Canton McKinley back on September 19, 2011. Wednesday’s 12-0 win was the second largest margin of victory and second most goals scored in a game in team history. Their performance was only bested by that 13-0 victory against the Bulldogs in 2011. Below are the five games in team history in which Louisville has reached double digits:

1. 13-0 at Canton McKinley on September 19, 2011

2. 12-0 at Canton South on October 12, 2016

3. 11-0 vs. Canton South on September 21, 2011

4. 10-0 at Canton McKinley on August 22, 2016

5. 10-0 vs. Carrollton on October 1, 2008

Other goal scorers for the Leopards included Megan Chatelain, Jenny Hamsher, Megan Hampe, and even Celia Keefe who played outside of her typical Goalie position. Backup Goalie Kenzie Brown recorded the shutout in goal for Louisville, but the ball never got to her. The Leopards out-shot the Wildcats a whooping 44-0 and also blanked them in corner kicks 9-0.

Louisville players recorded assists on 7 of their 12 goals. Hampe led the Leopards with 2 assists and Baughman, Chatelain, Hamsher, Madison Novosel, and Smith each tallied an assist.

With the win, Louisville is now 10-0 against the Wildcats all-time which includes a 5-0 mark at Canton South. The Leopards have shutout the Wildcats in each of their past 4 match-ups and 7 times overall. Louisville has also outscored Canton South 70-3 all-time.

The victory also extends the Lady Leopards unbeaten streak to 10 games (8-0-2) which is a new team record. The 2012 team held the previous mark winning 9 straight games in a row. Louisville will look to keep their streak going as they open up postseason play on Monday.
