The Louisville Leopards mounted a fourth quarter rally to edge the host Carrollton Warriors 63-59 at beattys-sports-winter-hat-2017Carrollton High School Friday Night. With their 5th straight victory, Louisville improves to 7-4 overall and remains in first place at 6-1 at the midway point of the NBC schedule.

Chris Libertore and Derek Zeller scored a game-high 15 points each to lead the Leopards. Jared Mathie also finished with 14 and Brody Hahn reached double figures with 10 for Louisville.

The game remained tightly contested throughout as the Leopards held a 15-14 edge after the first quarter and the Warriors rallied to knot the game at 29-29 by halftime. Carrollton would pull ahead 47-43 at the end of three quarters forcing Louisville to mount a rally of their own.

The Leopards would win the final period 20-12 to take the game and keep their single game edge on first place in the NBC Standings. Louisville hit 3 of their 8 three-pointers and made 9 of their 10 free throw attempts in the fourth quarter to ice the game.

The Warriors shot 63% (25 of 40) from the field compared to the Leopards making just 39% (18 of 46) of their shots from the floor. The Louisville defense forced 16 steals in the contest to counter this disparity. Libertore finished with a game-high 4 and both Hahn & Mathie also had 3 thefts a piece. Libertore also snagged a game-high 8 rebounds for the Leopards.

Carrollton was led by Cole Russell who scored a team-high 14 points. Both Kyle Bullard and Kory Host also scored 9 each for the Warriors.

With the win, Louisville has now won three straight over Carrollton. The Leopards have also now won their last three meetings in the Black Hole, a feat that has not been accomplished by LHS since 2004. Louisville now leads the all-time series 46-29.

UP NEXT: The Leopards will next travel to Perry to take on the Panthers on Saturday, January 14. JV will start at 6:00 PM and Varsity will follow around 7:30 PM.

The Leopards JV Team downed the host Warriors 59-33 Friday Evening. After starting the season 0-2, Louisville has not lost since. The Leopards JV squad is now 9-2 on the year and is unbeaten against league foes at 7-0.

Spencer Hall scored a game-high 11 points to lead the Leopards. Caleb McCartney also scored 10 and both Scott Gronow & Ryan Pukys added 8 points each for Louisville.

Carrollton was led by Connor Baxter and Caleb Dalton scored scored 6 a piece.
