Visiting Louisville erased a 10-point deficit before falling just short of Carrollton 48-47 in the Black Hole Friday night.  Alex Schooley poured in a game-high 12 points and Alex Hollifield scored 7 of his 11 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Leopard Comeback.  Andrew Collins led the Warriors with 12.

Despite three different Carrollton players hitting three-pointers in the first quarter, the Leopards trailed just 15-14 through the first eight minutes.  Blake Hoover scored 4 of his 8 points in the opening quarter and Schooley also added a pair of buckets to lead the Leopards charge.

The Warriors ripped the game open in the second quarter by going on a 10-2 run in a stretch of 3:40 to take their biggest lead of the night at 30-20.  Zade Deitz scored 7 of his 9 points in the quarter to lead the Warriors who took an eight-point lead into the break.

Out of the locker room, the Leopards rallied back.  They scored the first 5 points of the second half on a Bryce Mathie three-pointer and a Ronnie Carter bucket.  Back-to-back three-pointers by Beatty's Winter HoodiesCarrollton’s Collins and Louisville’s Schooley followed to make the score 33-30 Warriors. Next, field goals by Hollifield and Hoover kept the Leopards within a single possession early on in the fourth quarter.

Soon after, Schooley found Carter in the left corner and he buried home a three-ball to give Louisville their first lead since the first half at 40-38.  After a lay-in by Deitz, Hollifield answered by drilling a triple to give the Leps a 43-40 advantage with under four minutes to play.

The Warriors bounced back with 2 baskets to take the lead, but Hollfield again delivered a go-ahead basket on an aggressive drive to the hoop with 1:47 remaining.  On the ensuing Carrollton possession the Warriors turned the ball over giving the ball back to Louisville.  However, Louisville returned the favor as Collins stole a Leopard pass and drove it the length of the court to give the Warriors a 46-45 lead with a minute remaining.

Again the Leopards turned the ball over and again Collins made them pay with two clutch free throws.  Collins finished with a game-high 12 points, half of which came in the final five minutes.

Down by 3, Hollifield swished a floating one-handed jumper to trim the Carrollton advantage to the narrowest of margins.  After a Louisville foul, Carrollton went to the line for the bonus.  The Warriors shot just 44% (8 of 18) on the evening, but no miss was more crucial than the front end of this 1-and-1 with just seconds remaining.  Luckily for the home fans though, it didn’t cost them as the Leopards failed to score on the other end.

The Leopards showed heart and will look to carry that effort into their remaining schedule starting with Howland at Lake High School Saturday.  For the Warriors, it is their sixth straight victory over the Leopards who still lead the all-time series 41-26.
