Leopards Earn First Win in New Gym Vs. Akron North

The Louisville Leopards boys basketball team earned their first win of the season and first victory in the new gymnasium Saturday night against Akron North 62-35. Cody Cheezan scored 17 points, which led all eleven Leopards scorers in the game.
The Leopards opened the game on a 12-0 run and never looked back. The Louisville defense shutout the Vikings for the first 7:25 of the ball game. They also held them to no field goals during an 8:00+ stretch in the third & fourth quarter in which the Leps outscored North 16-1. North shot just 22% from the floor during a 14 for 64 performance.
Akron North committed 37 fouls, had five different players commit 4 fouls, and one player foul out of the game. Louisville took advantage by making 23 of 39 free throws that included 7 from Cheezan and 6 from Jeremy McQuilkin.
The Leopards improve to 1-4 on the year with key league games coming up next, while Akron North drops to 0-6.

Akron North jumped out to a 17-14 lead at the end of one, but the Leopards outscored them 41-16 in the final three quarters. This stretch started when Louisville completely shutout the Vikings from the field in the second quarter. Ronnie Carter led Louisville by cashing in 15 points, while Andy Minster also added 9 points off 3 three-pointers. Overall 12 different Leopards scored in the game as the JV Squad won their third straight after starting the season 0-2.
