Leopards Early Take Off Grounds Aviators 10-1

Louisville 10, Alliance 1

The Lady Leopards scored six runs in the opening inning before cruising to a 10-1 victory over visiting Alliance. With the victory, Louisville is now 12-2 overall and 8-0 in the NBC.

Gianna Falcone pitched the entire game, struck out 4, and only gave up 1 run on 3 hits. Falcone retired the first 10 Aviator hitters before allowing three runners and a run in the fourth. After that she finished strong in putting away 11 of the next 13 Alliance batters. The Senior pitcher is now 31-2 for her career.

Katie Cozy led the Leopards offense by going 3-for-4 with a single, a double, and a triple. She fell just a home run short of hitting for the cycle, but drove in a pair of runs while also scoring twice. Beatty's Sports Softball Shirt 2013Amy Hoover also had a two-run double, a pair of singles, and scored two runs. In addition, Chandler Rice went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and a two-run single. The Canton Repository Athlete of the Week also stole two bases and came home twice as well.

In the first inning, the first seven Louisville batters reached base and the score was 4-0 before Alliance recorded an out. Louisville would go on to pound out 15 hits as a team and played error-less softball for the entire contest.

The Leopards are now 16-5 all-time against the Aviators and have won the last 8 meetings overall. In those last 8 contests, Louisville has outscored Alliance 56-6 and shut them out 5 times.

Louisville’s victory coped with Carrollton’s 9-8 extra inning win over West Branch today puts the Lady Leopards up 2 games on everyone in the league. Louisville will travel to Carrollton on Tuesday to face those 11-4, 6-2 Warriors.
