Leopards Boys Soccer Clinches 1st Ever NBC Title

The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Soccer team shutout the visiting Canton South Wildcats 4-0 Beatty's Blue Louisville Logo CoatTuesday Night at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the victory, Louisville won their first league title since the team was established in 2000. The Leopards finish the regular season with a 10-3-3 overall record and a 6-0-1 record in the NBC.

Bailey Adams scored a pair of goals and recorded a pair of assists to lead Louisville. Adams corner kick midway through the first half found the head of Derek Zeller, which in turn found the back of the net to give the Leopards 1-0 advantage.

Louisville played loose with the lead and Adams found the net twice in a span of 51 seconds. Adams JennCanAdreceived a pass from Bradley Terra, weaved his way through the Wildcats defense, and booted the ball into the left side of the net to make it 2-0. On his second goal, Mitch Perez pushed a pass forward and Adams beat the Canton South defense for the breakaway goal making it 3-0 with 8:53 to go in the opening half.

The Leopards would tack on an insurance goal with 26:52 to go in the second half. Adams passed the ball ahead, Alex Stefanik gained control of it at the top of the box, and then put the ball into the back, left side of the net. The score made it 4-0 Louisville and they never looked back.

The Leopards defense did the rest and Goalie Jarrett Zwick made 8 saves in goal. Louisville out-shot Canton South 31-11 and tripled them up in corner kicks 9-3.

With the victory, the Leopards have now defeated the Wildcats in 14 straight meetings. Louisville now owns a 14-3-1 series lead over Canton South which includes an 8-1-1 record in the all-time series at home.

Marlington also won 4-0 at Alliance Tuesday to clinch a share of the NBC title with the Leopards. Both teams finish their NBC schedule with a 6-0-1 record with Louisville tying the Dukes at Marlington 1-1  back on September 13. The Dukes have now won an NBC-leading 10 conference titles, while the Leopards are celebrating their first NBC crown!

Louisville has now won the conference at least once in all 17 NBC sports that they participate in.

UP NEXT: The Leopards will next host the Boardman Spartans on Wednesday, October 19 at 7:00 PM in the DI Austintown Sectional Semifinals.
