Clara Lemmon and Emily Nees each scored a team-high 10 points during the Lady Leopards 38-33 victory over Green in the Jackson Holiday Tournament Semifinals Thursday Night at Jackson High School.  With the victory, Louisville improves to 7-2 on the season and will face host Jackson Saturday at 8 PM in the tournament final.

Leading 10-7, the Lady Leopards used a 12-2 second quarter run to take their biggest lead of the game at 22-9.  Clara Lemmon started the scoring from the field and her sister Hannah Lemmon Beatty's Winter Hoodiesfollowed with a three-pointer.  Next, Jordan Monnot found Hollyann Mullett across the lane for 2 of her 8 points on the evening.  Finally, Nees scored two quick baskets in a span of about 30 seconds to cap off the Leopard run.

The Louisville defense held Green to just 3 total field goals and 9 points in the first half.  Furthermore, they shut down the Bulldogs to close out each quarter.  In the first quarter Green failed to score during the final 4:35 and they were also shutout for the final 4:39 of the second quarter.  Louisville took their game-high 13-point advantage into the break.

However, that advantage evaporated quickly.  The Lady Bulldogs roared out of the locker room to score 15 of the first 17 second half points to tie the game at 24-24.  In fact, in a little over a half of a quarter Green had scored more points than they had in the entire first half.  Spearheading the Bulldogs comeback was Erika Rector who hit Green’s only three-pointer of the contest, hit home two free throws, and also added a bucket to score 7 of her 8 points in the period.  McKenzie Black also scored 4 of her game-high 11 points in the quarter for the Lady Bulldogs.

Green stormed back, but they never managed to overtake Louisville.  The Lady Leopards defense again came through to hold the Bulldogs scoreless for the next 4:19.  Two free throws by Monnot, who finished with 6 points, and two buckets by Clara Lemmon gave Louisville a 30-24 early on in the fourth quarter.  The Bulldogs answered with a basket to end the drought, but Nees countered by driving to the lane of the score.  Green would get within 34-30, but Louisville shot 6 of 8 from the free throw line in the final stanza to close the deal.

Louisville is now 2-1 against Green all-time, with this being their first meeting in 21 seasons.  Since Jackson beat Revere 55-51, Louisville and Jackson will meet on Saturday in the Jackson Holiday Tournament Final.  The Lady Leopards are 15-18 against the Polar Bears all-time, but have taken 3 of the last 4 in the series.
