Lady Leopards Win Battle of Louisville Scrimmage
Louisville 52, St. Thomas Aquinas 41
The Louisville Lady Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball team defeated the visiting St. Thomas Aquinas Knights 52-41 in a three period scrimmage Tuesday at LHS.
Grace Jackson scored a team-high 12 points and Sarah Lairson poured in 10 to lead Louisville. Abby Beaver, Sabryna Benzel, and Alexa Oberster each added 8 points each to balance out the Leopards attack.
The two squads played three 16 minute periods with a running clock in each. The crosstown foes tied in the first session 15-15 with Oberster burying a game-tying three-pointer with 21 seconds remaining. The Leopards would defeat the Knights in the next two sessions 14-7 and 23-19.
In JV Action, Louisville outscored St. Thomas 34-22 in three sessions as well. The Leopards rallied from a 7-1 deficit to take the first period 8-7. Katie Hollifield scored what proved to be the game winning basket with 25 seconds left. Louisville won the next two sessions by a count of 14-6 and 12-9.
