Lady Leopards Storm Past Quakers – Girls Basketball

Louisville 71, Salem 48

The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team defeated the visiting Salem Quakers 71-48 Beatty's Sports Grey Hoodie - Winter 2017Saturday Afternoon at Louisville High School. With the victory, Louisville improves to 10-3 overall and remains a perfect 8-0  in the league.

Abby Beaver led the Leopards by scoring a game-high 23 points, dishing out a game-high 7 assists, and recorded a team-high 4 rebounds. Alexa Oberster also poured in 15 points and Sarah Lairson finished with 12 points.

Louisville led throughout the entire game as they jumped on Salem early to take a 20-9 lead after one quarter. The Quakers rallied back to cut the Leopard lead to 39-34 in the third quarter, but Louisville outscored Salem 32-14 the rest of the way to earn the win.

The Leopards were out-rebounded 30-18, but overcame this disadvantage on the boards by forcing 20 steals on defense. Ellie Jackson finished with a game-high 4 steals. Erin Hahn, Lairson, Oberster, and Danielle Walter all had 3 each as well for Louisville. Hahn and Oberster also tied Beaver for the team lead in rebounds for the game by grabbing 4 a piece.

The Quakers were led by Chloe Cheresne who scored a team-high 14 points and had a game-high 6 rebounds. Helena Shontz scored double figures with 10 points and also finished with a game-high 6 boards. Leah Menegos also tallied 8 points and Allee Davison Chuck recorded a team-leading 4 assists & 2 steals. Salem is now 5-7 overall and 2-6 in the NBC.

With the victory, the Leopards have now defeated the Quakers in four consecutive meetings and are  unbeaten against Salem in their past 7 meetings at Louisville. The Lady Leopards now lead the all-time series 14-6, which includes an 8-2 record at home.

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next travel to West Branch to take on the Warriors in a battle for first place in the NBC! The two squads will meet on Wednesday, January 18 at WBHS with JV starting at 6:00 PM and Varsity following at 7:30 PM.

The Leopards JV Team dropped the season series against the Quakers 33-30 Saturday at LHS. With the loss, Louisville falls to 9-3 overall and 6-2 in NBC play.

The Leopards were led by Maggie Galetine who scored a game-high 9 points. Kayla Gibson also finished with 6 and both Morgan Cole & Sydney Daniel added 5 a piece.

The Quakers were led by Taylor Troy who had a team-high 8 points. Jaden Hamilton also dropped in 7 and both Allee Davidson-Chuck & Abi Hochadel
